Man Utd identify alternative to Atletico Madrid fullback Trippier

Manchester United are determined to buy a new right-back this summer - even if a deal for Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier cannot be closed.

ESPN reports United are being deterred in their pursuit of Trippier due to Atletico's asking price.

Trippier is keen to return to the Premier League after two seasons at Atletico Madrid to be closer to his family but the price being quoted by intermediaries is more than £30 million, which United consider to be too much for a 30-year-old with very little sell-on value.

Indeed, Atletico are unwilling to listen to any offers for Trippier as coach Diego Simeone considers him a key member of his title winning squad.

As such, United are prepared to turn to Norwich City fullback Max Aarons if Atletico refuse to soften their stance.
