Manchester United icon Norman Whiteside believes Dimitar Berbatov is facing a critical 12 months.
Whiteside believes this is the make-or-break campaign for Berbatov.
"I've seen a lot of him in pre-season and he looked good," the former Northern Ireland international told the Manchester Evening News. "He had a brilliant game against Celtic in Toronto and if we could see more of that he could be a big player for United.
"In that game it wasn't just the fact that he scored, it was his all-round game. His link up play was superb and he was chasing back.
"That's the part of his game that people question. But if he did that on a regular basis, it would make a massive difference.
"Everyone rates him so highly. We're all waiting for him to explode as a United player. We don't know how Sir Alex Ferguson will use all his strikers because he's got a lot of options now - but he will want to see more consistency from Berbatov. It could be a huge year for him."
