Man Utd icon Scholes must cut Salford ties for Oldham job

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes will have to cut ties with Salford City if he is to take the Oldham Athletic manager's job.

The Mirror says Scholes has held talks with Oldham Athletic over the vacant manager's position at Boundary Park.

Oldham, managerless since the exit of John Sheridan on September 25, have declined to comment.

Should Scholes take charge, the former Manchester United star would have to bring to an end his involvement with Salford City, the non-league club of whom he is a co-owner.

Under FA rules, Scholes would not be able to take over of Oldham while remaining involved with the National League North side.
