Man Utd hit double setback in transfer search

The massive rebuilding job that has been promised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United has yet to materialise, and it looks to have hit another hitch.

English media sources say the Norwegian manager has reluctantly accepted that the club won't be able to prize Declan Rice and Jadon Sancho away from West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Swansea City winger Daniel James is on the verge of completing an £17 million move to Old Trafford after undergoing a medical at United's training ground on Thursday.

Solskjaer is also looking to recruit a new central defender, and reports claim that a £350,000-a-week deal has been offered to Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, although United face stiff competition from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, who can all offer Champions League football.
