Man Utd hero Parker slams Chelsea captain Terry over England outburst

Former Manchester United and England World Cup defender Paul Parker has slammed Chelsea captain John Terry for his media rant on Sunday.

Terry laid bare a series of grievances and personnel issues which he vowed to raise at a pre-planned team meeting with manager Fabio Capello.

But former Manchester United and QPR defender Parker claims Terry would have been better off keeping his thoughts to himself.

Parker, who made 19 appearances for England between 1989 and 1994, said: "John Terry's comments surprised me. That doesn't show respect for team-mates or the manager.

"He has jumped on his high horse and that could cost him dearly because Capello won't be happy at all.

"He has got to remember that he is no longer captain. Steven Gerrard is captain of England now."
