Manchester United hero Andrei Kanchelskis believes Cristiano Ronaldo is destined for the MLS.

Ronaldo was released from his United contract on Tuesday afternoon.

Kanchelskis told Sport-Express: "It was expected. I said that this would happen before the New Year, everything went to this.

"There is nothing like this here, calmly play the World Cup, and then will look for a team if it has not yet found.

"I think he will be in the USA, calmly find something for himself, this is the most optimal option.

"Ambition in European competition? Age takes its toll, he does not get younger. (Inter Miami owner David) Beckham's team was interested in him.

"To write history in Portugal? I don't think that the option with Sporting will suit him."
