Manchester United legend Patrice Evra insists Paul Pogba is misunderstood, adding that Bruno Fernandes' has relieved some pressure on the World Cup winner.
Mino Raiola stated on Sunday that United would not accept any bids for Pogba this summer, with new contract talks set to commence soon.
And Evra says the 27-year-old has gone through unfair criticism in recent years.
"Paul's really misunderstood," Evra told the Guardian. "People talk more about his hairstyle but he's a great kid, a shy boy actually.
"It was important for Fernandes to relieve that attention on Paul. It wasn't fair. Paul is a happy person and we have been close so long.
"He Facetimed me yesterday at 11.30pm. I said: 'Paul, I'm in bed. Let me sleep'."
