Manchester United legend Andy Cole is excited about the partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

United fans are delighted they finally have a first choice central defensive pairing after the big money acquisition of Maguire.

The two were impressive against Chelsea in a 4-0 win and Cole hopes they can form a good understanding as they play more games with each other.

"[Maguire's] a confident player," Cole said on Sky Sports.

"For me personally, he's a real good centre-half. He's tidy with the ball at his feet, prepared to come out and play.

"He's got good pace about him and he's strong.

"I think playing with Lindelof, that's a good partnership.

"Lindelof's a good player. Last season he took a little bit of flak but he was getting used to the Premier League.

"[Towards] the back end of last season he proved just how good he was. These two will be good and long may it continue.

"It's all about keeping clean sheets for any team that are vying to win the Premier League or to get into the top four."
