Man Utd hero Brown: Give Williams a chance!

Manchester United hero Wes Brown says Brandon Williams is capable of filling in for injured left-back Luke Shaw.

Shaw has been out for two months and missed eleven games with a hamstring injury – and in his absence 19-year-old local lad Williams has looked a star in the making in the games he's played.

He told 888sport, “Injuries are horrible. I've had them and you wouldn't wish them on anyone. But looking at the bigger picture United need to rely on someone who is fit and ready to go, not succumbing to long-term injuries.

“It's a hard one because we all know how good Luke Shaw is and I'm sure when he gets back he'll be in the manager's mind straight away.

“The left-back situation is a tough one. I thought Williams' attitude was fantastic because when you're a young lad you don't want to be making any mistakes. Yet he stepped up to the plate.

“He was brilliant for the under 23s but in the first team he has excelled. He wanted it. You could see the drive in him. He wanted to play well.

“I don't know how long Luke Shaw is out for this time and I don't know if Ole is thinking that we need to buy someone but Williams has stepped up.

“With Williams I don't see why that can't be the case."
