Man Utd fullback Shaw: Dismal season start brought us together

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw believes his side learned a lot from two losses in their first two league games this season.

The Red Devils were 0-2 at the start of the campaign under Erik ten Hag, going down to Brighton and Brentford in consecutive games.

Since then, they have regrouped, and are now third in the Premier League midway through the season.

"I think not just myself but the team in the first two games was nowhere near where we should be," Shaw said.

"We've learned from that and grown as a team and I think it's showing in our performances. The manager has been really good, he's shown a lot of trust in me and I want to repay that with my displays."

"I think it's obvious to see how important he is to the team," he added on midfielder Casemiro.

"For us as defenders, it gives us a feeling of security. He loves to win the ball back and tackle. We joke he likes to give the ball away so he can win it back.

"I'm very happy to have him back tomorrow night because he's been a big miss for us."
