Manchester United fullback Guillermo Varela hopes to play again this season.

Varela is currently on-loan with Eintracht Frankfurt this season, but has been sidelined by an ankle injury.

The defender has made just two appearances, breaking down in the second game of the season.

But Varela is now on the brink of a playing return and would be open to extending his stay into next season: "This is an option.

"We'll talk about it when I go back to Manchester."
