Man Utd forward Wayne Rooney is not ready to take a pay cut to join boyhood club Everton.

The 31-year-old still has two years left on his lucrative £250,000-a-week deal with United.

However, Rooney is not an automatic starter in Jose Mourinho's side and it is widely believed that he will leave United this summer.

The Toffees are one of the clubs interested in the striker, but according to the Express, the Merseyside club can't afford to match Rooney's current wages.
