Man Utd follow Man City in refusing to meet release clause for Sevilla defender Kounde

Manchester United are not willing to meet Sevilla defender Jules Kounde's release clause.

The Frenchman has emerged as a target for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after becoming one of Europe's finest young defenders.

Manchester City targeted the 22-year-old last summer, but instead they signed Ruben Dias from Benfica.

Part of the reason for City's decision was the stubbornness shown by Sevilla around Kounde's release clause of £68m.

And the Daily Mail says the Red Devils have similar qualms about Sevilla's demands, given the current financial climate amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Solskjaer will move onto other targets should the Spanish club stick by their valuation.

The Norwegian has been offered Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, but the 23-year-old is not high up on his list.
