Manchester United face a losing battle to strike terms for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng - on two fronts.

BILD says United are in talks with Bayern for the Germany defender - though not at their current €45m asking price.

Further clouding the issue is new Bayern coach Niko Kovac, who has told his board he doesn't want to see Boateng sold.

Along with United, PSG are also in contact with Bayern - and it is Paris which is favoured by Boateng as his next destination.

Only if United are willing to better his €15m salary will Boateng consider accepting a move to Old Trafford.
