Manchester United must delay their planned trials for Vancouver Whitecaps striker Alphonso Davies.
The Manchester Evening News says United were hopeful of hosting Davies, 17, for a three-week trial in January after tracking the Vancouver Whitecaps forward for a considerable amount of time.
However, it has emerged Davies is likely to spend the new year with Canada's Olympic team camp under coach Octavio Zambrano.
It is unclear whether the Whitecaps will grant Davies permission to fly to Manchester before the new Major League Soccer season begins in March.
Davies' trial at United would have come 11 years after North American prodigy Freddy Adu trained at the club.
