Man Utd encouraged by Barcelona to bid for Rakitic

Manchester United are back in talks with Barcelona for Ivan Rakitic.

Sport says United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an admirer of the Croatia international and he identified the midfielder as a potential target back in February.

The Red Devils reportedly enquired into the availability of Rakitic three weeks ago and have now followed up their original call by checking in again on the 31-year-old.

Barcelona have been receptive to United's overtures.

They are looking for a fee of around €50million (£44.9m), but have pushed back against United's first suggested offer of €35m (£31.4m).
