Man Utd determined not to overpay for Barcelona midfielder De Jong

Manchester United are assessing their options as they continue negotiations with Barcelona over a deal for Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutch midfielder is the club's number one target this summer, as they look to replace the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are very keen to sign the 25-year-old, but the clubs are apart in their valuation of the midfielder at present.

Football director John Murtough is in talks with Barca, but United will not overpay, and are also assessing other targets.

Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips is another option, while they have a long standing interest in West Ham United's Declan Rice as well.

United have also been linked to Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony in recent weeks.
