Manchester United's official account had to delete a post on Twitter which praised Erik ten Hag and Ajax.
The Red Devils were hammered 4-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday, one of the worst defeats in the club's recent history.
United will now finish on their lowest Premier League points tally, and may not even qualify for the Europa League for next season.
The club's official Twitter accounted posted: "Erik ten Hag's side maintained their advantage in a dramatic afternoon in the race for the Eredivisie title" along with a muscle emoji.
However, the tweet did not go well with the club's supporters, who labeled it shameless and embarrassing.
The tweet was quickly taken down, and the matter was not mentioned by any official club channel since.
