Manchester United will not appoint a sporting director until manager Jose Mourinho departs.
The news comes from the Daily Mail.
They suggest that United do not want to undermine Mourinho by appointing someone between him and boss Ed Woodward.
But United are intent on completing an overhaul of their sporting structure when Mourinho does depart.
It is unclear if the manager's departure will occur during the season, at the end of the season or when his contract expires.
There were rumours Mourinho would be fired after the game against Newcastle, but they did not come to fruition after United won the game 3-2.
