Manchester United defender Chris Smalling doesn't expect to walk straight into the first team.
Smalling, 20, admits he has a long way to go before winning a regular place in United's starting line-up.
But the former non-league player is determined to prove himself at the world's biggest football club.
He said: "You have to show the manager what you are capable of in training and in the games you do get.
"It is going to be hard and I have noticed a step up in standard.
"In terms of the general tempo and training it has been a real improvement but it has been a real joy so far."
