Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says David de Gea insisted he was fouled for Everton's goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had his arm across the Spaniard's face as he came out to try and punch away a corner but the goalkeeper missed the ball and it ended up bouncing in the back of the net off Victor Lindelof to give Duncan Ferguson's side the lead.
And Maguire has revealed the United goalkeeper told him straight away that he thought the goal should have been disallowed.
"I asked David straight away and he said it was a foul," Maguire told MUTV. "He's frustrated he didn't get a cleaner punch on it but he's been impeded without the opposition making contact with the ball.
"You've seen over the last couple of years you can't touch them in the box and normally they get given as fouls."
The centre-back, who captained United in the 1-1 draw on Sunday, also believes the goal should have been ruled out.
"I've watched it back, it's a foul. It's frustrating. Nowadays you can't impede goalkeepers," he said. "When I'm going up for a corner I know I can't jump above the goalkeeper and make contact with him unless I make contact with the ball at the same time. Their player has made contact with David. He hasn't made contact with the ball. It should be a foul."
