Man Utd defender Lindelof stunned by Swedish online abuse

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof admits he's been stunned by claims of nasty online abuse aimed at him.

The Swedish FA confirmed they had been in contact with the police over a number of threats made towards the centre back after he withdrew from their squad as wife Maja was due to give birth.

And Lindelof told Viasat the comments made were 'sick.'

"I have not followed it so much but focused on what has been important to me and that is Maja," Lindelof said.

"People always wonder what lies behind things. What I cannot understand is how people cannot respect that is a personal reason. For me it is quite sick that you can not only respect it and release it.

"But then, well, you play football you have to share everything that happens in one's life. So maybe it is, but for me it is completely sick."
