Man Utd defender Jones fears Burnley move now off

Manchester United defender Phil Jones fears January plans of moving to Burnley could now be off.

The Daily Star says Jones fears a potential move to Burnley in January is under threat amid a planned takeover of the Clarets.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has pencilled in a loan swoop for the forgotten England defender as he prepares to face more interest in his prize-asset James Tarkowski.

West Ham remain keen to sign the £40million-rated Tarkowski but should a £200million takeover at Burnley by Egyptian businessman Mohamed El Kashany and lawyer Chris Farnell go through, they will no longer have to sell.

That would leave Jones in limbo and clear the way for Championship strugglers Derby and Middlesbrough to make a move for the versatile ex-Blackburn star.

Jones, 28, is on £100,000 a week at Old Trafford but last featured for them back in January - and was omitted from their squad for the current campaign.
