Man Utd coaching staff confident Rashford op will see form surge

Manchester United coaching and fitness staff are confident Marcus Rashford will emerge stronger once he undergoes a cleanout operation.

United staff are highly optimistic over Marcus Rashford's decision to undergo surgery this summer. Rashford will go under the knife on a muscle tear he suffered in his left shoulder eight months ago ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The Athletic reports United wanted Rashford to undergo surgery the day after May's Europa League final defeat to Villarreal, but he wanted to represent England at Euro 2020.

Everyone at United feels that without his niggling injuries to worry about, Rashford can improve.

His long-standing problems have meant he hasn't been able to get maximum flexibility from the joint and lift heavy weights in the gym.

It has also affected his speed and confidence when shielding the ball and going into challenges at force.

Specialists have told United that a 12-week period of rehabilitation will be necessary after Rashford's operation.

However, until the surgeon goes under his skin during the keyhole surgery, the 23-year-old's projected recovery period can't be known.
