Manchester United interim coach Ralf Rangnick is hopeful Cristiano Ronaldo can return for Wednesday's clash with Brentford.
The Portuguese missed his second consecutive game against Aston Villa on Saturday, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
"It [Ronaldo's absence] was because he was injured," Rangnick stated at his post-match press conference.
"He still has problems with his [hip] flexor, that's why he couldn't train yesterday. We spoke before and after the training session and decided it makes no sense just to travel, without knowing if he can really play.
"We'll see what the situation is like tomorrow [Sunday] and if he will be available again on Wednesday."
