Man Utd chiefs plan major defensive summer additions

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward will focus on their defence for this summer's market.

United are facing an exit from the Champions League at the last-16 stage following their 2-0 home defeat to PSG.

The Mirror says United need a top central defender while they also could do with new full-backs on both sides, along with a right-sided midfielder.

Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly remains their No.1 target, having been on United's radar for some time.

The Italian giants want close to £90m for the Senegalese defender, who fits the profile of what United are looking for.

Lucas Hernandez of Atletico Madrid can play centrally or at left-back while Nikola Milenkovic is as versatile on the right. The Fiorentina defender is seen as the cheaper option of the two.

United were also heavily linked with Douglas Costa under former manager Jose Mourinho and there are suggestions he would consider leaving Juventus in the summer.
