Manchester United are monitoring developments regarding Ajax duo Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars.
Overmars, the director of football at Ajax, has revealed his desire to take on a new challenge in the near future alongside colleague, and Old Trafford legend, Van der Sar.
The Mirror says Overmars, 47, would satisfy United's criteria for the position which will be responsible for transforming their outdated recruitment model.
United have openly looked to recruit a director of football over the last three seasons with criticism levelled at the club after a series of poor, and costly, signings.
Overmars, who played for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000, has helped Ajax build and nurture their esteemed policy in the market, as well as their world-renowned youth system.
