Manchester United powerbrokers have tried to convince Edinson Cavani to stay at the club during a meeting on Tuesday.
Director of football John Murtough and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward met with the Uruguay international.
The Daily Mail says the pair expressed their desire for Cavani to sign a one-year contract extension.
The player's father Luis revealed his son did not feel comfortable in England when speaking earlier this month.
But another concern for Cavani is over his playing time.
United are openly searching for a number nine this summer, and the 34-year-old thinks a new signing will impact him.
Cavani has managed seven goals in 26 appearances this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love to keep Cavani as a veteran figure for his younger forwards.
