Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is prepared to buy Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly this month.
France Football says United could make an exception to their transfer policy if they deem Koulibaly an attainable January target.
It has been claimed that United want to wait until the summer, when their long-term managerial picture will become clearer, to make significant additions to the squad.
However, United dream of landing Koulibaly and could swoop for him this month.
He is valued at over €100m (£90m) by Napoli.
