Manchester United's departed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was told to sign Manchester City full back Joao Cancelo years ago.
The likes of Gary and Phil Neville, who played as full backs for the Red Devils under Sir Alex Ferguson, were big fans of Cancelo before he joined City.
According to the London Evening Standard, the brothers had seen Cancelo develop during their short stints with Valencia.
Woodward was told to secure the Portuguese, but he ignored the suggestion, and Cancelo went on to sign for Juventus and then City.
He is now seen as the best full-back in the Premier League, and is equally good as a right or left-back.
