Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal only wants to shop at the top end of the market in January.
The Daily Star Sunday says United will only spend in the January transfer window if their top targets become available.
A centre-half is viewed as the ideal signing, with Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels, 25, still top of boss Van Gaal's wish list.
