Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is delighted with their swoop for Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austria midfielder has arrived on-loan from Bayern Munich.
Ten Hag said: "We are really happy with that signing, because we needed to strengthen after Donny van de Beek disappeared (due to injury) and now Christian Eriksen for a longer period.
"I also think Scott McTominay is not available for a shorter period. So that left us with a shortage of midfielders, but then to bring in a quality player on transfer deadline day, it's difficult.
"Then we got this opportunity. I know the player for a long time, from the time in Salzburg and especially from Leipzig, he performed fantastically. I expect him to do the same here. I think he has a great attitude, he is at the right age and I am sure that this opportunity will motivate him strongly and he will perform for us."
