Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has explained his decision to take off forward Wout Weghorst against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils narrowly won their home game against Palace on Saturday 2-1 thanks to Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford goals.
With United 1-0 up in the second half, Weghorst was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho, with Rashford moving into the striker's position.
“He [Weghorst] played excellently," Ten Hag said as per Voetbal International.
“He was strong in putting pressure, in being a point of contact. We were able to continue playing through him.
“Only at a certain point do you switch tactically. To put an opponent who has focused on Weghorst against a different type of player, I think it had an immediate effect."
