Man Utd boss Ten Hag explains Martial absence

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says Anthony Martial missed victory over Crystal Palace due to injury.

Having been absent for a fortnight following the Manchester derby victory on 14 January, Martial played the final 27 minutes of the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg against Nottingham Forest in midweek, coming off the bench to net the opening goal.

But he suffered a further setback, according to Ten Hag.

“He had a set back from the game when he returned," he told MUTV prior to kick-off.

“He thought he could build up, but he dropped a little bit back.

“We have to wait, we have to be patient not to force it."
