Man Utd boss Solskjaer: We can't afford slow start

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his players they cannot afford a slow start to the season.

United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on August 11, followed by what is likely to be a testing trip to Wolves eight days later.

“The transfer window will close when the league starts and the start of the season is important," said Solskjaer.

“We've worked them hard. I don't think many players have had a pre-season like this before.

“In the first eight to 10 games you can lose the chance to win games, so the first two months are vital.

“I'm looking to get all the players back to the form when I came in and we went on a run of 11 or 12 games without losing.

“Everyone has been spot-on this season. When they're out on the pitch I can't fault anyone and they've been more proactive in meetings."
