Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
The Daily Mail says Solskjaer sent his personal scout to report on West Ham's Declan Rice at the weekend ahead of a summer move for the England midfielder.
Simon Wells was dispatched to watch Rice during Friday night's 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United, a game in which the 20-year-old thought he had set up an injury-time equaliser only for VAR to penalise him for a handball in the build-up.
Rice has rediscovered his best form in recent weeks after a difficult first half of the season and is among Manchester United's top targets as they look to bolster their central midfield position.
Wells is Solskjaer's most trusted scout having been tasked by the United boss with concentrating solely on players to improve their first team. He reports directly to Solskjaer after stepping up to the new role in September.
