Man Utd boss Solskjaer: Ref delegate admits TWO decisions for Sheffield Utd shock were WRONG

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the match delegate for defeat to Sheffield United at Old Trafford admitted they were on the end of two wrong decisions.

The Blades' opening goal was allowed to stand even though replays showed that Billy Sharp barged into David de Gea before Kean Bryan headed in. Then United had an equaliser by Anthony Martial ruled out by referee Peter Bankes and his assistants for a similar incident when Harry Maguire challenged goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the other end.

VAR reviewed both incidents and decided there was no clear and obvious error because they were borderline, and United went on to lose 2-1 to their bottom-of-the-table opponent.

"The momentum shifted for us with the Sheffield United game," said Solskjaer ahead of Tuesday's match at home to Southampton.

"I don't like to bring these up but I've got the delegate's report on the referee and the two decisions were wrong.

"They've admitted their goal should have been disallowed and our goal should have stood. That's a big, big momentum changer for us.

"You're more likely to, when you go 1-0 up rather than 1-0 down, go on and win that game. So that's fine margins and it has been the way this season.

"You hit the post, it goes in or it goes out. Sometimes you're lucky with decisions, sometimes you're not. We've got to focus on this game and I'm sure the results and performances will come."
