Man Utd boss Rangnick hopeful Fernandes, Sancho injuries not serious

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick hopes injuries to Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho aren't serious after their FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.

angnick is hopeful Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes will be fit for Tuesday's return to Premier League action at Burnley.

The Reds suffered a gruelling, and ultimately disappointing, night when losing the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round tie to Middlesbrough 8-7 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Sancho looked to be struggling in injury time, with worries he may have hurt his hamstring, and he was withdrawn for Juan Mata. The England international received warm applause from the crowd as he made his way around the pitch, as he had scored his maiden goal on home turf in the first half and also hit the bar early on.

Fernandes, meanwhile, sustained a heavy blow to his back when landing awkwardly in extra-time and required treatment.

He carried on in a bid to help United get an all-important second goal but it was not to be as the Championship side prevailed on penalties in front of the Stretford End.

"Jadon didn't get a knock," clarified Rangnick in a post-match interview with MUTV. "He was just feeling tired.

"Bruno had a knock on his back but could play through the whole game.

"Hopefully, for Tuesday, we will have all of those players available again."
