Manchester United fullback Matteo Darmian remains a target for Serie A clubs.

The Sun says Jose Mourinho is willing to keep the 28-year-old in his squad and likes the defensive cover he brings.

But the Old Trafford boss will not stand in the way of him seeking regular first-team football.

United have a one-year option to extend Darmian's contract beyond the end of last season but they are ready to accept a decent offer.

Darmian arrived for £12.9million three years ago but only in his first season at the club did he nail down a regular place.

Now Inter Milan and Roma are ready to bring him back to Italy as they feel he can compete for a first-team place immediately in the second half of the season.
