Man Utd boss Mourinho seeks clarity over January plans during Woodward crunch talks

Jose Mourinho wants clarification over the amount of money that will be allocated for the January transfer window when he meets this week with Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The pair were supposed to meet last week until Woodward cancelled. They will now convene at United's Carrington training ground before Saturday's trip to Bournemouth.

Reports broke earlier this week that Woodward has set aside £100m for Mourinho to spend in January, although Metro believes that total is closer to £75m.

In the meeting, Mourinho is also expected to vent his frustration with the targets that United's scout department have put forward so far.

The Red Devils boss has been publicly demanding a new centre-back since the summer and spoke after last week's 2-1 win over Everton about how it was impossible for his team to keep a clean sheet.

United have been linked with Spurs' Toby Alderweireld, although he will be available for just 25m in the summer due to a clause in his contract.

Leicester City star Harry Maguire was also targeted in the summer but recently signed a new five-year extension.

Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic was scouted by Mourinho last month, and former Viola scout Fabrizio Bertuzzi has TribalFootball that the Serb is ready for the Premier League.

Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar and AC Milan's Alessio Romagnoli are also rated by the Portuguese.
