Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reluctant to lose Matteo Darmian midseason.

The Mirror says Mourinho will block former club Chelsea's attempts to sign Darmian.

Having made 28 appearances under Louis van Gaal last season, Italy international Darmian is yet to feature under the Portuguese this term.

As such, a reunion with former international boss Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge has been mooted for the 26-year-old, but former Blues boss Mourinho is expected to rebuff any approach by his old employers.

Darmian, signed from Torino in 2015, has been linked with a return to Serie A, with Juventus and Napoli reported suitors.
