Jose Mourinho is pushing the Manchester United board to offer both Juan Mata and Ander Herrera contract extensions.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the season.
According to Evening Standard, Mourinho has made a personal plea to Ed Woodward to keep the Spaniards. He believes both players are an important veteran presence in the dressing room.
Mourinho made a similar push for Marouane Fellaini in the summer, with the Belgian eventually signing a new two-year deal.
As problems continue to persist within Mourinho's squad, Mata and Herrera are seen as having a calming presence amongst their teammates.
