Man Utd boss Mourinho: Mendes? Nothing to do with me

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he was in the dark over agent Jorge Mendes' statement over his job status last week.

Super agent Mendes' release last week insisted his client will stay at Old Trafford despite his position coming under constant and intense scrutiny.

But speaking ahead of United's Champions League clash against Valencia tomorrow night, Mourinho distanced himself from his agent.

Quizzed about the statement, Mourinho said: "I have nothing to do with the statement. It is Jorge's statement, not my statement.

"I didn't know [it was coming] and I don't care about it."

Mendes, who also looks after Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea, said in his original statement: "There have been more rumours of Jose Mourinho leaving Manchester United.

"It's totally untrue. Jose is very happy at the club and the club is very happy with him.

"He has a long-term contract with Manchester United and is fully committed to the club in building a solid winning project."
