Man Utd boss Mourinho: If Aguero stays up, Fellaini gets no red

Jose Mourinho believes Sergio Aguero is just as much to blame for Marouane Fellaini's red card tonight.

The Manchester United midfielder was sent off in the 84th minute of the eventual 0-0 draw at Manchester City for head-butting Aguero in a heated exchange.

But Red Devils boss Mourinho is of the belief that Fellaini received his marching orders due to the cleverness of Aguero to go down.

"Marouane said it was a red card because he is Marouane Fellaini. Referee Martin Atkinson said it is a red card in his opinion," Mourinho said on Sky Sports.

"But I saw Aguero in the tunnel and he has no broken nose, no broken head – he looked as good as ever. If Sergio doesn't go to the floor [he does not get sent off].

"But Marouane gave him the chance.

"I can guess it's a bit of a red card and a bit of a very smart, very experienced Argentinian player."
