Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that he sees Jesse Lingard's future as a playmaker in the number ten position.
The 23-year-old winger earned rave plaudits after putting in a commendable attacking midfield performance in the 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday, prompting van Gaal to suggest that perhaps he could be played more centrally in the future.
Following the game, Van Gaal said: "Yes, that is why I have put him there [because he played well], but sometimes also I need a right winger who is fast.
"It's also dependable on the opponent and the game plan, but I think Jesse is more of a midfielder than a right-winger. He played there two times very well."
