Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has moved for Spain U21 star Thiago Alcantara. The Daily Mail says United have made a strong enquiry about highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Thiago.
The Spaniard scored a delightful free kick to help his side beat Switzerland in the European Under 21 Championship final on Sunday.
But while United have moved to the head of the race for his signature, Barcelona are keen to use the starlet as a makeweight in a deal for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea are also understood to have been interested in Thiago.
