Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was happy with Wayne Rooney's performance in midfield against Otelul Galati.

Rooney has tended to give the impression of believing he could be an effective performer anywhere on the field, including in goal.

However, there is a limit to how far Ferguson is willing to test that theory.

"He says his best position is centre-half. I am not about to try that," he said.
