Man Utd boss Ferguson: I told Darren to leave Peterborough

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he told son Darren to leave Peterborough United in the summer.

Darren decided against following the fatherly advice, but was axed in November with newly-promoted Posh sat in the Championship relegation zone.

Ferguson Snr said: "I knew it was going to happen because he needed to get away. I think it had run its course.

"None of his players were over 24 years of age and he had no money to get a player in, so he did miracles to get them there.

"I told him last summer that now was the time to leave. He had more faith in his team than I had.

"And it turned out I was right. He should have left, but that happens."
