Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing Ajax striker Luis Suarez. The Sunday Times says Ferguson has carefully monitored the development of the Uruguay international, who at 22 already captains Ajax Amsterdam, having claimed 54 goals in 75 League appearances for the Dutch club. Suarez - also a regular scorer for his national team - has drawn comparisons to Ronaldo in his ability to play through the centre or on either flank.
Ajax are aware of Ferguson's interest and expect a bidding war to develop, with Manchester City, Internazionale and AC Milan also involved.
Though Suarez has told Ajax he is interested in extending his contract, the club are unconvinced and recognise that they may be forced to sell.
"The technical management have to take this decision, but we are prepared to consider possible good offers," said the Ajax general manager, Rik van den Boog. "We want to keep him until the end of the season, but we also want to make him happy."
