Manchester United are attempting to hijack Tottenham Hotspur's move for Giovanni Lo Celso.
Reports last week stated Spurs had lodged an offer worth £52m to sign the Real Betis midfielder.
However, Marcasays United are looking to make their own play for the Argentina international.
United have made contact with the Andalusian club this week over a deal for Lo Celso, who excelled for Betis this season.
He was initially on loan in Seville from PSG until the club activated a clause which saw him move permanently for £22m.
